Application & Enrollment

New Applicants

Once a New Participant Application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by our staff to determine whether Strongwater’s programs may be a good fit for the applicant’s needs and goals. Approval depends on both need and availability of resources.

Current Participants

Existing participants who would like to continue their enrollment may submit the Current Participant Application below. The Program Director will contact each applicant about next steps.

Assessment

Prior to new participant enrollment, an in-person assessment is conducted to evaluate each applicant’s goals, abilities and comfort level with the horses and staff. This further determines whether our services are a good fit and guides us in the development of an appropriate program. It also helps us decide whether a participant will learn best in a group or private setting.

All participants are required to provide a Medical History Form signed by a physician on or before the date of their assessment.

There is a $50 Assessment Fee, payable at the time of the assessment.

Determination

There are individuals for whom Strongwater Farm’s programs may be deemed inappropriate and who may not be approved for enrollment. This determination may be made on the basis of contraindications outlined in the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International’s (PATH Intl.) code of ethics (https://pathintl.org/path-intl-member-code-of-ethics/) and standards (https://pathintl.org/resources/standards-manual/).

Strongwater Farm reserves the right to determine if it is unable to serve an applicant or that continuance in a program by a given individual is inappropriate due to unavailable resources and/or safety concerns including PATH Intl. guidelines relating to contraindications for participation.

Under Massachusetts Law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to, or the death of, a participant in equine activities pursuant to Section 2D of Chapter 128 of the General Laws.

How Our Rates are Determined

We work hard to keep our program fees as low as possible. Through the generosity of our donors and volunteers, we are able to subsidize ⅔ of the actual cost of providing lessons. The rates above therefore represent only ⅓ of the total cost to us, which are used to defray operating expenses.

Payment Plan Option
A Monthly Payment Plan is available to help our clients meet the cost of tuition for the sessions throughout the year. To enroll, please download and submit the form below.
A Note About Insurance

Payment must be made to Strongwater Farm prior to the start of each program. We are unable to accept health insurance.

Some insurance providers may reimburse a portion of tuition fees, but we do not contact or bill them directly. Participants and their families are responsible for applying for reimbursement through their provider.

Missed Lesson & Cancellation Policy

In order to maintain appropriate staffing levels at all times and ensure a healthy work-life balance for our horses, Strongwater Farm does not routinely reschedule lessons missed or canceled by clients and tuition cannot be refunded.

Make-up lessons are only available in the rare event that a client cannot participate due to a serious medical condition, which must be documented in writing by a physician.
